Terms in brief
- Gassed
- Protruding fibres are singed off with a flame. The yarn becomes smoother and more lustrous.
- Mercerised
- Treatment with caustic soda under tension. Cotton gains lustre, strength and better dye uptake.
- Dyeing cone
- Softly and evenly wound package on a perforated tube through which the dye liquor can flow.
- Giza cotton
- Egyptian cotton varieties, long or extra-long staple depending on the variety. Suitable for fine, smooth yarns.
