Properties and applications
In open-end or rotor spinning, the sliver is opened into individual fibres and reassembled into yarn in a fast-rotating rotor. The yarn is wound directly onto a cross-wound package, so no rewinding is needed.
- Even mass and good bulk.
- Lower strength and a slightly harsher handle than a comparable ring-spun yarn.
- Most economical in coarse and medium counts.
- Typical uses: denim and other twills, terry, work and corporate wear, home textiles, sweatshirt fabrics and knitwear.
For special requirements we also supply open-end plied yarns. See special qualities.
