Count ranges
Where does your count sit?
Enter one value, e.g. 30, or 60/2 for a plied yarn. The other fields are calculated (Nm = Ne × 1.6934 · tex = 1,000 ÷ Nm · dtex = 10 × tex · den = 9 × tex). Rounded to three significant figures, without twist contraction.
| Yarn type | Ne | Nm (approx.) | Specification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Open-end yarns | 5/1 to 30/1 | 8.47/1 to 50.8/1 | 100% cotton |
| Single yarn, carded | 10/1 to 30/1 | 16.9/1 to 50.8/1 | ring-spun, 100% cotton |
| Single yarn, combed | 16/1 to 40/1 | 27.1/1 to 67.7/1 | ring-spun, 100% cotton |
| Plied yarns | 8/2 to 60/2 | 13.5/2 to 102/2 | carded or combed |
| Compact yarns | 24/1 to 200/1 | 40.6/1 to 339/1 | combed, 100% cotton |
Ne is the reference; Nm is converted and rounded to three significant figures. Conversion: Nm = 1.693 × Ne; tex = 590.5 ÷ Ne.
